Diana Lynn Cantrel

Diana Lynn Cantrell Connor, the most gung-ho Aggie who never attended A&M, the most indulgent mother who never had her own child, and the toughest fighter who never threw a punch, died on Friday, Sept. 1 in Bryan, surrounded by family and friends. She was 61. Diana was born in Sweetwater on August 24, 1956. When she was two, her family moved to Cooper, where they lived until moving to Roswell, NM in 1967. In 1971 the family moved to Abilene, and Diana graduated from Cooper High School in 1974. She graduated from TCU in 1978 with a degree in home economics, after which she worked as a home demonstration agent for the Texas Agricultural Extension Service in Cleburne. In 1980 she moved home to Abilene to work as an electric living consultant with West Texas Utilities. Diana married Mike Connor in 1986, and in 1989 they moved to Dallas, where she worked for the Junior League. After moves to Tulsa in 1994 and Longview in 2000, the Connors settled in Bryan in 2003.

Services for Syble Christeen Harrell Baldwin, 96, of Daingerfield were held Oct. 3 at Lilly’s Chapel Church of Christ. Burial followed at Clark Cemetery under the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home in Hughes Springs. Ms. Baldwin was born Oct. 4, 1920. She died Sept. 30 in Daingerfield.

Alpha C. Dannelley

HUGHES SPRINGS -- Services for Alpha C. Dannelley, 91, of Hughes Springs were held Sept. 23 at Crossroads Missionary Baptist Church. Burial followed at Cornett Cemetery under the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home in Hughes Springs. Mrs. Dannelley was born Nov. 21, 1925 in Clarksville and died Sept. 20. She was preceded in death by her husband, William K. Dannelley; and son, Kenneth Dannelley. She was the last remaining child of Daniel Marion and Lula Mae Thomason. She worked many years for Hughes Springs Independent School District. She is survived by her son, Alvin Dannelley and wife, Donna of Hughes Springs; daughters, Judy Kennedy and husband, Charles of Daingerfield, Sybil Grace and husband, Larry of Waskom; daughter-in-law, Brenda Dannelley of Marietta; eight grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Gladys Barrington; and quite a few nieces and nephews.

Alice K. Shaddix

HUGHES SPRINGS -- Services for Alice K. Shaddix, 92, of Hughes Springs, were held Sept. 24 at Hughes Springs Missionary Baptist Church. Burial followed at Flat Creek Cemetery under the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home in Hughes Springs. Alice Katherine Jeardoe Shaddix went to be with her Heavenly Father and Savior on Sept. 20. She was born May 16, 1925 to Albert & Laura Jeardoe, in Norway, Republic County, Kansas. Shaddix had four siblings: Hazel Rodgers, Edward Jeardoe, Edith Moxham and Dorothy Novak. She and her husband raised six kids: James Shaddix, David (Sue) Shaddix, Linda (Bobby) McDaniel, Carol (Lee Roy) Bickham, Annette (Tommy) Burson, and Mary (Larry) Trevino. Then they added the next generation of 18 Grandchildren; and 13 Great-Great Grandchildren.
