The Northeast Texas Community College Adult Education Department recently held a graduation ceremony to celebrate 30 students who completed the requirements for the GED (General Equivalency Diploma). Eight students were inducted into the National Adult Education Honor Society and the winner of the J. Travis Jackson Memorial Scholarship was also announced.

The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) urges boaters and paddlers who enjoy the waterways to do their part to protect the Texas lakes we love from aquatic invasive species.
The Northeast Texas Community College Foundation recently received $60,000 from the Texas Pioneer Foundation to support the Work4College Program. Dr. Jonathan McCullough (left), NTCC Executive Vice President for Advancement, is pictured receiving the check from Fred Markham on behalf of the foundation. The funds will be used to cover costs associated with the Work4College Program, which allows students to earn money for college through meaningful campus jobs during the summer. This year marks the 10th anniversary of the Work4College Program, which has been supported by the Texas Pioneer Foundation from the beginning. Northeast Texas has had a strong connection to a leading evangelical center of higher learning, Dallas Baptist University. From 1979 to 1987, W. Marvin Watson, a former chief of staff for President Lyndon Johnson and long-term resident of Daingerfield, served as the university’s president. In 2009 DBU dedicated its landmark chapel, an 8-million-dollar gift from Lonnie (Bo) and Patty Pilgrim of Pittsburg. Five years later, one of the top Presidential Scholars of NTCC honors history, Noah Griffin, a member of the All-USA, top-twenty national team, transferred to DBU.
