Cass County Criminal District Attorney Courtney Shelton recently released the following information on cases disposed of in the 5th Judicial District Court for the Month of November. Judge Bill Miller was the presiding judge.
We are going to be a little more serious this week as we get ever closer to Christmas and the day we celebrate as the birthday of our Lord and Savior. Most of us have heard the story from the Book of Luke and we have the visions of a newborn baby wrapped in swaddling clothes laying in a manger on a bed of straw. We can picture the sight as Mary and Joseph look into the eyes of their miracle baby and they soak in the wonder that brought Him into this world.
The holidays have officially come to Daingerfield, with the annual Christmas Parade and tree lighting held Monday, Dec. 5. The parade was followed by the first ever Holiday in the Park, sponsored by the Daingerfield Chamber of Commerce.
Elementary students from Daingerfield’s West and South Elementary school took part in the Elementary UIL competition in New Diana on Dec. 2. Among the students competing were those who competed in the Chess Puzzles competition.
On Tuesday, December 6, 2022, Charles Spraberry pled guilty to the offense of Capital Murder in the 5th Judicial District Court of Cass County, Texas for the deaths of John Thomas, Jr. and Jennifer Archer. Spraberry pled to additional charges of Assault Causing Bodily Injury – Family Violence by Occlusion (strangulation), Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Felon, Escape with a Deadly Weapon, and Assault on a Public Servant. The pleas took place before the Honorable Judge Bill Miller, with family members from both Thomas’ and Archer’s families present.
