“Great Green salad event” to be held March 17

The School Health Advisory Council (SHAC), Ounce of Prevention, and Brookshires are inviting citizens to attend a “Great Green Salad Event” on Mar 17, 2020 from 12-1 PM at 909 Linda Drive in Daingerfield.

Each year the group sets March as their on wellness and making healthier life-style changes.  This year they will have presentations on the following topics:

Lifestyle Change Programs

Making essential lifestyle changes could reduce the risk of many health complications leading to stroke, cardiovascular disease, and diabetes. The University of Texas Health Science Center offers free self-management and lifestyle change programs to help manage your blood pressure, cholesterol and prevent or delay Type 2 Diabetes. Both of these programs intertwine blood pressure control, cholesterol management and diabetes prevention to promote an overall healthier lifestyle. Additionally, these programs develop a community of accountability and support to foster lifestyle change.

CHW Training Program

Community Health Worker course provides an opportunity to become a certified CHW through the Department of State Health Services. This training is provided one hundred percent (100%) online with the opportunity to have one-on-one mentorship with a certified CHW Instructor.
