Truitt Family Cabin a historical gem, hidden in plain sight | Daingerfield Bee

This marker from the Texas Historical Commission marks the entrance to the homestead and historic cabin of John Wingate Truitt. The cabin is located on FM 144, just off of Highway 259 between Daingerfield and Lone Star.

The Truitt cabin has been rebuilt using as much of the original structure as was possible. The Truitt family has covered the cabin with a modern awning to protect it from the elements. BEE PHOTOS / TONI WALKER
