Jimmy “ Jim” Edmondson

Jimmy “ Jim” Edmondson of Longview passed away on November 30, 2023. Jim was born on September 1, 1941, to Irvin and Dora Edmondson in Perryville, Arkansas. Jim graduated from Daingerfield High School in 1960 and attended Kilgore College.

Jim met and married Barbara Burgess and blended their families. Together they shared seven children and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Jim was a painter with Lone Star Steel Company for many years before his retirement. Jim was an avid outdoorsman and archery. He was very talented and spent his time in competition archery tournaments and won championships in multiple states. Jim was proficient in both long bow and recurve. He was proud of his championships and loved to talk about archery and teach young people who were interested in the sport. Jim was also a lifelong Daingerfield Tiger football fan. He could often be found in the stands on Friday nights cheering on his beloved Tigers.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Barbara, and three children. He is survived by his sister Lynn Amerson and her husband Bill of Hallsville, a stepson and friend James Burgess and wife Emma of Palestine, his aunt Sue Nation of Hot Springs, Arkansas and a niece and nephew and many grandchildren.

A memorial service for Mr. Edmondson will be scheduled at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Daingerfield Athletic Booster Club.
