Sandra Kay Smoak
A Mass of Christian Burial for Sandra Kay Smoak, 80, of Ore City will be held at 9:30 AM Saturday, December 2, 2023 at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Daingerfield. Burial will follow in Our Lady in the Pines Cemetery.
Mrs. Smoak was born on May 9, 1943 in Gilmer to Wayne and Jeppie Mackey.
She passed away on Monday Morning, November 27, 2023 at her daughter’s home in Chappell Hill. Services have been entrusted to the Horn Family at Horn-Nail-Haggard Funeral Home in Daingerfield. The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 PM Friday, December 1, 2023 at the funeral home. A rosary will be recited at 6 PM.
Mrs. Smoak was an amazing seamstress having made clothes for all of kids and family. She even made some gowns that were in the Miss Texas and Miss America pageants. Mrs. Smoak was extremely good at math and had a gift for calculating numbers in her head. She loved to cook and to can foods. She was a long-time member of Catholic Church and attended Our Lady of Fatima. (Haworth, OK), Kristy Smoak Minton, husband Bryan Minton - Addison, Presley, Makenna, Bryson and baby Jacob Minton who preceded his great-grandmother in death. The family requests in lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made in honor of Mrs. Smoak to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Wounded Warrior Project or Hospice Brazos Valley.
