YEAGER

HUGHES SPRINGS -- Our beloved mother was called home to be with the Lord on Sept. 22. She was 98 years old.

Rama was born Feb. 18, 1920, to Arthur and Bera Mae Vaughn in Daingerfield. She married Robert DV Yeager June 29, 1940, and they were married 68 years until DV’s death in 2008. Spending many years in LaMarque, raising 3 sons, she was very involved with Boy Scouts and loved doing all manner of arts/crafts. She and DV built their retirement lake home in Daingerfield in 1973.

Rama’s life was primarily driven by love of family. Their home was always open and the gathering place for friends and family. Rama was a fabulous cook, her freezer and pantry were always stocked, and the first thing she said when you walked in her house was, “are you hungry”. Also an avid fan of crocheting, she belonged to a group of ladies who met every month for what was known as “Knit-n-Spit” day. She loved all kinds of game including dominos “42” and Yahtzee. In later years her favorite was a dice game called ‘Farkle’ and she was good at winning!

She was preceded in death by her husband, DV Yeager, great-grandson Mickey Jo Yeager, four sisters and five brothers.

Rama is survived by three sons: Robert and daughter-inlaw Peggy of Tyler, TX, Don and daughter-in-law Karen of Dyersburg, TN, Danny and daughter-in-law Tanya of Fence Lake, NM; and 1 brother Harold Vaughn of Hughes Springs; six grandsons: Jon Yeager- Longview, Mike Yeager- Murrell’s Inlet, SC, Stephen Yeager- Nolensville, TN, Craig Yeager- Mt. Pleasant, Adam Yeager and Mark Yeager– Dyersburg, TN; 10 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

Services were held Sept. 25, at Reeder-Davis Chapel. Burial followed at Clark Cemetery under the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home in Hughes Springs.
