Who is my neighbor?

Who is my neighbor?

Growing up, it was pretty easy to identify who your neighbor was. People rarely moved, so learning everyone in a 2-3 block radius was pretty easy. I would grow up with kids, know their siblings, parents, aunts, uncles and cousins. Then you had neighbors from your church and parents would know people they worked with. Today we are not afforded that luxury.

No matter how old I get, I will never forget my mother’s instructions … “pick up your room, make up your bed, did you brush your teeth?, wash behind your ears, don’t interrupt” … and the big one … “watch your tongue, young lady!” I have to admit I never quite understood the last one. Since I was knee-high to a grasshopper, I would always “watch” my tongue in the mirror.
