The Hughes Springs Mustangs have gotten off to a good start in March, compiling a 6-3 record through the first two weeks of the month. The strong start to the month adds to the Mustangs already impressive season record, which stood at 6-2 following a 33-5 shellacking of Pewitt to end February.
Daingerfield’s Powerlifting team took three young men to the Region 3 meet on March 3 in Arp. Marlon Hayes advanced to the state meet, thanks to a thirdplace regional finish.
Pewitt and Hughes Springs opened their track season the day after storms rolled through the area, but fortunately, conditions were wet, yet improved for the annual Doug Sibley Relays, hosted by Pewitt.
The Daingerfield Tigers traveled to Waskom Feb. 28 looking for their first win. The Tigers almost pulled off a comeback in the contest, but fell, 17-16 to drop to 0-4 on the young season.
