While one streak ended Friday, another streak is ongoing for the Daingerfield Tigers as they prepare for a matchup this week for the district title.
The Pewitt Brahmas still have an opportunity to force a three-way tie for District 10-3A Div. II’s final two playoff spots after Friday, when the Brahmas hit the road and shut out Prairiland, 42-0. The win is Pewitt’s first shutout since 2019, a 46-0 win over Redwater.
Lady Mustangs kick off playoffs Tuesday against WR
Hughes Springs was game in their final road matchup of the year, but an early deficit hurt the Mustangs in a 36-8 loss at Queen City Friday night. The win coupled with losses by Waskom and Elysian Fields clinched a playoff spot for the Bulldogs.
With the 1983 state championship team in attendance Friday, a team with 14 shutouts in their championship season, the 2023 Daingerfield Tigers extended their own shutout streak with a 62-0 win over Queen City.
