UT Health East Texas offers remote TeleRehab to patients via TheraNow
UT Health East Texas has partnered with TheraNow to provide telemedicine and remote physical therapy and rehabilitation treatment to patients throughout East Texas.
Texas pedestrian and bicycle deaths continue to climb
AUSTIN – Despite a decrease in traffic crashes in 2020, Texas saw a dramatic rise in the number of people killed walking and biking on our roadways. Last year, 731 people died in pedestrian-related crashes, an increase of 9% from 2019. Crashes involving bicyclists claimed the lives of 82 people, up from 68 deaths the previous year. During 2020, 25% of fatalities in pedestrian and bicyclist-related crashes involved alcohol. These numbers reflect an alarming trend of pedestrian and bicyclist fatalities increasing over the last five years.
BBB tips for renters
BBB is reminding renters to use caution when looking for rental property. In 2020, 7,593 complaints were filed through BBB against apartment complexes and real estate rentals with the majority of the issues revolving around their services, billing and repairs. Likewise, as bogus ads for properties are common, it’s more important than ever for renters to make educated decisions before choosing an apartment or other rental property.
Important additional guidance for employers claiming the employee retention credit
The IRS recently issued further guidance on the employee retention credit. This includes guidance for employers who pay qualified wages after June 30, 2021, and before January 1, 2022, and guidance on miscellaneous issues that apply to the employee retention credit in both 2020 and 2021. Additionally, the IRS issued a safe harbor allowing employers to exclude certain items from their gross receipts solely for determining eligibility for the employee retention credit.
