MCC announces their 2023 Women & Teen’s Retreat

The Morris County Collaborative is thrilled to announce the 2023 Women Teen’s Retreat which will take place on Saturday, November 4, 2023, at 11 AM at the stunning Lakeview Baptist Assembly Convention Center in Lone Star, Texas. “ This year’s retreat promises to be a day filled with exciting activities, engaging discussions, and delicious food,” states Beverly Austin, Event Chair and Coordinator. Assisting with this awesome endeavor are Co-Chairs Margine Mims and Tolita Teddleton, and a committee of over 20 community volunteers. Our esteemed guests will be welcomed by Mayor Pro-Tem, Jerri Chism along with Jeanette Doddy, Mistress of Ceremony. The theme for this year’s event, “Believe in the Promise” is inspired by Luke 1:45, which emphasizes the importance of faith in the Lord and the belief that He will fulfill His promises. We are delighted to have Mindy Robertson as our keynote speaker who will bring laughter to the crowd and deepen this theme with her presentation, “ The Relief in Belief.” The Morris County Collaborative was organized to increase the well-being and economic vitality of the community through providing resources, education, and opportunities. To support this mission, the event will feature three panel discussions facilitated by Dr. Heather Clark from the Texas A&M School of Public Health. Dr. Clark and Dr. Mendez will have a discussion with the Morris County residents to hear about the progress and what’s ahead. The results will be evaluated and used to assist in preparing future plans for the community. The second panel will focus on Health & Wellness, with an emphasis on cancer, its emotional effects, and the power in making choices that are best for patients. Our featured speaker for this panel is Dr. Dineo Mogapi-Daniel, Pharmacy Manager at Walgreens. The third panel will discuss the opportunities in Education, with panelists Lesia Lewis, Melissa Reid, and Natash White, and healthcare with Martha Baker. The panel will also feature Felicia Rios, Express Professional, with tips for job seekers on why employers hire and why they do not. And, as an added bonus for teen girls, bestselling author Summer Nilsson will have a workshop just for teens, reminding them that if they can dream it, they can become it. We are excited to invite all the women and teens to join us for this unforgettable day of learning, empowerment, and fun. See you there!
