COVID-19 has already led to several precedence’s being set in regards to school and competitions. With most schools set to begin within a few weeks, thoughts are turning to sports and other extra-curricular activities.
Although only a small number of companion animals have tested positive for the SARS-CoV-2 virus, pet owners may experience anxiety about the best way to care for their pet amidst a pandemic when stories about confirmed cases in pets begin appearing closer to home, such as those recently reported by the United States Department of Agriculture in Texas, California, South Carolina and Georgia.
A big question on everyone’s mind of late has been the upcoming high school football season. The Texas University Interscholastic League (UIL) gave answers to that question, as well as others, in a July 21 announcement. The announcement set guidelines for all fall sports, as well as band activities.
Morris County residents must now follow the guidelines in Governor Greg Abbott’s most recent Executive Order regarding face coverings, as active cases in the county have increased to 29.
Approximately 0.6% of the Morris County population has now tested positive for COVID-19 since the pandemic reached America. The county’s current numbers are significantly lower than the state’s 1.2% infection rate. Total infection rate for the United States is also 1.2%. Morris County is faring much better than the United States, Texas, and adjacent counties in COVID-19 fatalities as well, with zero deaths.
