The City of Hughes Springs has had several re-openings after Governor Greg Abbott issued his latest Executive Order on April 27. The city outlined some of the openings in their recent city newsletter.
The Steel Country Bee has established a Community Marketing Grant Program to assist locally owned businesses during the COVID-19 crisis.
Some of most overlooked, and most affected in the community are those in area nursing homes. Residents have gone weeks without much contact with others in the facilities besides caregivers, and even longer without getting to see their families and friends outside of the facilities. At least one local nursing home is following the lead of other nursing facilities and organizing a “Mother’s Day Parade” to encourage their residents and give the community an opportunity to show their support.
