The Daingerfield Tigers saw the weather postpone a district matchup Elysian Fields Jan 10. The team was unable to make the extra day count as the Tigers fell in Elysian Fields to the Yellow Jackets, 59-46.The Tigers were able to end the first period tied at 11 with the host team, but a dismal second period, which saw the Tigers muster only seven points while giving up 16, was the Tigers’ undoing. Daingerfield was able to outscore EF in the third period, 19-14, but it was too little, too late for the Tigers as they were doubled up in the fourth quarter, scoring 9 points to EF’s 18 for the final margin.
With a threat of bad weather looking, the Daingerfield Lady Tigers navigated a time change to defeat Elysian Fields and remain unbeaten in district play. Both teams entered the matchup with a 4-0 district record, yet it was Daingerfield who would remain undefeated at the final buzzer, winning 52-37.The game, originally set for 6:30 p.m. Jan. 10, was moved to 4 p.m., but the change did not dampen the Lady Tigers’ spirit. The Lady Tigers jumped out to a 14-12 lead at the end of the first period, and never looked back, outscoring the Lady Jackets in each quarter of the 15-point win.
The Daingerfield Lady Tigers continued their unbeaten streak Jan. 7, showing they can come from behind against Waskom to move to 4-0 in District 15-3A play.The Lady Tigers went into halftime with a four-point deficit, 24-20. The deficit remained after each team put up 12 points in the third period. The fourth period belonged to the Lady Tigers both offensively and defensively, as the Wildcats were limited to nine points while Daingerfield added 27 to win the matchup, 59-45.
