On Saturday, Oct. 22, Daingerfield FFA member and high school sophomore Jordan Tigert, traveled to Gilmer to show her breeding beef heifers at the 2022 East Texas Yamboree Breeding Beef Heifer Show. Jordan showed two of her Santa Gertrudis heifers, Strawberry and Gracie Mae, and her Beefmaster heifer, Fancy. Jordan’s Santa Gertrudis heifer, Strawberry, was awarded Reserve Champion Santa Gertrudis Breed. A cornered or wounded entity is at its most dangerous. Backed against a wall with playoff chances on the line, the Pewitt Brahmas battled out of that corner and have now given themselves a shot at a playoff spot.

They say it is never too late to begin again, and that is just what is happening for the Hughes Springs Mustangs. After beginning the season with six straight losses, the Mustangs have rattled off three straight district wins and look have locked up at least the fourth spot in District 11-3A. A win against Queen City on Homecoming set the Mustangs (3-6, 3-2) up for a battle against Waskom (4-4, 3-2) for the third and fourth spots in the district.
