I know that I have been absent these last two weeks. To say that it has been busy is an understatement. The school year is rapidly coming to an end. We have a full schedule of events from our Senior Awards program, FFA Banquet, Sports Banquet, class trips, and the list goes on. Graduation is almost here for our seniors. May 27th will be here before we know it, and I know that our seniors are excited to walk across the stage and receive their diploma. As our seniors look forward to their future endeavors, we here at the high school are looking forward to next year. We are continuing to implement all of the changes previously discussed in these columns. We are in the process of hiring new staff to fill these new roles that we are going to be offering our students next year. Our high school will have our own CMA/CNA program, we will have our own Culinary Arts department, and we are looking forward to partnering with NTCC so that our students can participate in cosmetology, ITCC, and automotive tech. These are just a few of the updates that are occurring here at Daingerfield High School. As always stay safe and next week we will be back with some more loving, positive, and uplifting information about our school, students, and community. God bless and GO TIGERS!

I hope that everyone had a wonderful Easter weekend. We had an exciting last week. Our district track meet was moved from New Diana to White Oak and our young men and young women competed very hard. Our Area meet has been moved from Tatum to West Rusk due to some other competitions coinciding with our Area meet. We wish our Lady Tigers and Tigers good luck as they compete for an Area championship. We are also excited to be sending off our Forestry team to their state competition in Nacogdoches. Our band and student body will be giving them a proper send off as they leave to go hopefully bring us back a state title. Good luck! Also, our One Act Play team hosted their play Steel Magnolias in our theater Monday night and I couldn’t say enough how proud we are of their performances this year. We have several projects in the works here at the high school and look forward to the transformations that these projects are going to bring to not only our campus, but our district as well. I pray that everyone has a great rest of their week. As always, stay safe and next week we will be back with some more loving, positive, and uplifting information about our school, students, and community. God bless and go Tigers!

NTCC Funeral Service Program granted seven-year reaccreditation

Northeast Texas Community College recently received notification that its Funeral Service program has been granted a seven-year reaccreditation with the American Board of Funeral Service Education (ABFSE). This makes NTCC one of only four accredited funeral service education programs in the state of Texas. Students who graduate from the program with an Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.) Degree in Funeral Services are eligible to sit for their National Board Exams in both funeral directing and embalming.
