Wearing the brand of loyalty to Christ

There are certain character traits that are a given if you call yourself a Christian. Basic things like honesty, faithfulness, being trustworthy, and of course those ten rules that He laid out for us to live by. There are others that seem to me like they should go along with the rest and be a part of the package. I was talking to my dad the other day about loyalty. Loyalty seems to be a scarce commodity in our world today, especially in the workplace. We hear things like “they don’t care about us, why should we care about them” or “they don’t pay me enough to give 100 percent” and the ever popular “we are just a number to them.”

On Thursday, Sept. 1, a Cass County jury convicted Vontrequel Nickleberry, 33, of Marietta, of the murder of DaChauncey Jones, also of Marietta. After conviction, additional evidence was presented, and the jury assessed a sentence of 50 years in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice – Institutional Division, along with a $10,000 fine. The case was tried by Cass County Criminal District Attorney, Courtney Shelton, and First Assistant District Attorney, Nick Ross. Nickleberry was represented by Dallas attorney Curtis Lilly. During the four-day trial, the jury heard from family members, deputies from the Cass County Sheriff ’s Office, forensic scientists, and multiple eyewitnesses to the murder.
