Hughes Springs honors those who helped make the community “Stronger Together” in 2020

The Hughes Springs Chamber of Commerce held their annual Crystal Globe awards banquet April 17 at The Legacy. The banquet served to honor those individuals and businesses who went above and beyond in 2020, proving when businesses, the community, the city, and the Chamber of Commerce come together, the community really can be “Stronger Together in 2021.” The banquet, typically held each January, was postponed due to lingering concerns over the ongoing pandemic.

Masks to become optional at HSISD April 26

Students at Hughes Springs ISD will have to option to not wear a mask at school beginning April 26. This comes after the board voted, 6-1, to make masks optional at their regular April meeting.

City Council meets, approves voluntary annexation

Secretary Hughs encourages Texans to vote early and make preparations to cast a ballot in the May election

AUSTIN – On April 14, Texas Secretary of State Ruth R. Hughs encouraged all eligible Texas voters to take advantage of the early voting period ahead of the May 1 election, which began on Monday, April 19 and ends on Tuesday, April 27. Voters across the state will have the opportunity to cast ballots in county, local, and political subdivision elections, including those for mayor, city council, school board, municipal utility districts, and other local entities. Secretary Hughs reminded voters to research the candidates and measures that will appear on their ballot and to prepare to make their voices heard.
