Daingerfield Days cancelled due to COVID-19 concerns
Another casualty of COVID-19 has been announced, as the Chamber of Daingerfield has decided to cancel the annul Daingerfield Days Festival, which was to be held Oct. 10.
Souza family gives $2,000 for NTCC scholarships
The Northeast Texas Community College Foundation recently received a $2,000 donation from the family of Maria Souza. The gift established the Maria Souza Hope Memorial Scholarship and will provide two $1,000 scholarships for NTCC students who are participants or graduates of Hope Ministries of Northeast Texas.
Avinger’s 1936 Study Club finishes multiple projects
Bears for Children in Crisis -- After many months, the Avinger 1936 Study Club’s February project has been delivered. Wanda Bailey, Judith Salmon, & Mary Lynne Arterberry ventured out to deliver the stuffed animals to Sheriff Larry Rowe. Sheriff Rowe explained that these gifts are used to calm children in a variety of situations. The county offices are grateful to the Avinger 1936 Study Club for the collection of stuffed animals donated every year.
