The Chess teams from Daingerfield’s West and South Elementary Schools, as well as the Junior High, recently competed in UIL competitions. The teams, coached by JayDee and Mary Davis, brought home six first place team finishes. In addition to the team results, Daingerfield teams had the top three individuals in each grade except sixth. Results are as follows:
The Morris County 4-H hosted their Candy Cane Classic Stock Show Dec. 4. Two Daingerfield High School FFA students participated in the show, with both faring well in their divisions.
I would like to start off this column by thanking our coaches, players, students, fans, and community for their support, dedication, effort, hard work, and sacrifice this football season.
The Christmas cactus (Schlumbergera bridgessii) is a winter-flowering houseplant that will do well in nearly any indoor setting. It’s attractive, easy to care for, even more easy to propagate, and is often given as a Christmas gift. The plant is usually 6-12” tall and 12-24” wide and prefers a pH of neutral to slightly acidic. Not surprisingly, it blooms in winter, just in time for Christmas!
Daingerfield High School Freshmen Justiss Duke and Makylie Harrison shared their experiences at the Lone Star Leadership Academy with the Daingerifeld-Lone Star ISD Board members during the November board meeting. Duke and Harrison were both nominated for the LSLA by Danny Carey, who also nominated several others for the experience. Other students who attended the Academy last summer, but were not in attendance at the meeting, included Mattie Phillips, Tessa Pollan, and Maddison Babcock. BEE PHOTO / TONI WALKER
