Fit for a princess

Several little princesses were delightfully entertained during a Fairy Dust Princess Ball on Jan. 29. Disney princesses came and visited them at the Civic Center in Mount Pleasant, pouring “tea” (apple juice) and offering the little ladies cookies and an opportunity to dance with a Disney princess.

Kenny Goodson of Hughes Springs is a master of today’s intersection between original musical composition, and high-tech software which helps to facilitate the conversion of musical ideas to published scores. In 1995, Goodson initiated MADD Creations which provides original and adapted scores for marching bands throughout the state. In addition to being a former band director at Mount Pleasant, and other high schools, Goodson is the former Director of Computer Services at Northeast Texas Community College. With this wealth of experience, Goodson is also scoring a third, feature-length NTCC Webb/ honors film in as many years. This year’s topic is Carroll Shelby, the emissary of the Muscle Car, and the philanthropist who has given a special edge to NTCC’s automotive program since 2007.

Principal’s Corner

As I am writing this I am praying that all of you are staying safe and healthy. I know that several of our area schools, including ours, have been affected by Covid and other related illnesses and our prayer is that everyone makes a speedy recovery. Spring is just around the corner. I know now that it seems far off, but in the school world all we do is blink and here it is. Our Spring sports teams are already in the process of preparing for their seasons, as well as, our UIL teams getting prepared for their meets, and our FFA teams are preparing as well. Here at Daingerfield High School we are trying to provide opportunities for all of our students so that they not only get an education, but also have healthy avenues to be involved in. With this being said, we are planning on adding several new electives to our schedule next year that will allow our students not only an exciting class, but an area where they can receive a certificate that can go with them beyond high school. I am excited to work with awesome people like our high school counselor Allison Duke who works tirelessly on not only our master schedule, but on individual student’s schedules as well. She has an amazing staff that not only support her, but our student body as well. I look forward to the rest of this year and to next year as we plan to provide exciting opportunities to our students. Speaking from a parent, I know that my wife and I are excited about he opportunities our daughter will have next year as a freshmen because of the hard work that our staff puts into the schedule for our students. In addition to classes being added into our master schedule we are looking forward to adding several more clubs and organizations. Our students have expressed interest in adding a bass fishing club that would compete with other area high schools in tournaments. We are going to need volunteers for this club in the form of boat captains. Students have also expressed interest in a trap shooting team, and archery club, and a design team. Our goal here at Daingerfield High School is to try and give our students the best high school experience they can have. So, if you are interested in helping out with any of our clubs or organizations please do not hesitate to call our front office personnel and ask for Coach Mo. As always, stay safe and next week we will be back with some more loving, positive, and uplifting information about our school, students, and community. God bless and go Tigers!
