Local residents who feel the desire to be a part of local government now have their opportunity to try and do so, as the filing period for local municipal elections opened Jan. 19. Several local municipalities have positions that will be on the ballots on May 7.
The Daingerfield-Lone Star ISD Board met in regular session on Jan. 18, at which time the board voted on the details of replacing the district’s superintendent, Sandra Quarles. Quarles announced her retirement plans at the board’s December meeting.
Daingerfield held their annual Martin Luther King Day Program on Jan. 15 and the Annual Martin Luther King Day Parade Jan. 15. The two events were co-sponsored by the Piney Woods Civic Club, The Daingerfield Chamber of Commerce, the Morris County Collaborative, and the b.U.D.D.Y. Organization of Northeast Texas.
