The Texas Department of State Health Services announced December 11 that new methods of COVID case counting will be implemented for the foreseeable future. An update has been made to the COVID-19 data dashboard to include additional data and to “simplify the layout to improve functionality.”

AUSTIN – The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) announced today its annual Christmas and New Year’s holiday traffic enforcement campaigns will kick off on Wednesday, Dec. 23. DPS is reminding drivers to celebrate the holiday season responsibly by practicing safe driving habits and obeying all traffic laws.
• Michael Todd Knowles, of Omaha, was arrested Dec. 6 by Naples police for possession of a controlled substance, penalty group one (greater than or equal to one gram but less than four grams).
The past year has been the year of cancellations and modifications. Spring high school sports: cancelled. Wildflower Trails: cancelled. Graduations: modified. As the calendar flipped from November to December, it seemed that all Christmas activities would be the next tragedies of COVID-19, as area chambers of commerce were making the difficult decision to cancel their parades and activities. The Hughes Springs Chamber made the decision to follow suit with many other local municipalities and cancel their parade just a week or so before it was scheduled. However, a group of local residents and business owners stepped in.
