Omaha celebrates with Christmas in the Park

With many neighboring towns and communities cancelling their Christmas parades due to COVID-19 concerns, the Omaha Chamber of Commerce made the decision to move forward with their annual Christmas in the Park event. The annual event, which includes the annual tree lighting dedication, ceremony, and Christmas parade, was held at the Omaha City Park Dec. 6 and was presented by the Omaha Parks Board and the Omaha Chamber of Commerce.

Simple request turns into one man’s ministry

What began as a simple request for a bicycle for a child in need has turned into one local man’s ministry to the community. Mike McRae, who owns McRae’s Automotive in Daingerfield, has made it his mission to help put smiles on the faces of local children by providing bicycles to those in need.

Welsh Power to cease coal development in 2028

Southwestern Electric Power Company’s (SWEPCO) compliance department has made plans to retire the H.W. Pirkey Power Plant in Hallsville in 2023 and will be ceasing coal development at the Welsh Power Plant in Pittsburg in 2028 due to environmental regulations.
