HHSC Launches Statewide COVID-19 Mental Health Support Line

AUSTIN – Texas Health and Human Services has launched a 24/7 statewide mental health support line to help Texans experiencing anxiety, stress or emotional challenges due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

CASA focusing on family support during Child Abuse Prevention Month

April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month, and CASA of Titus, Camp and Morris Counties is raising awareness of the need for more dedicated members of the community to step up and become CASA volunteers, and help break the cycle of abuse and neglect, through supporting children and families.

Gov. Abbott issues stay at home order for non-essential workers

On March 31, Texas Governor Greg Abbott signed an Executive Order implementing Essential Services and Activities Protocols for the entire state of Texas. The protocols direct all Texans to minimize non-essential gatherings and in-person contact with people who are not in the same household. Abbott’s orders impacted local businesses, schools, and more. The new regulations fall in line with calls from President Donald Trump that social distancing requirements be extending through the month of April, at least.

“Goin’ on a bear hunt”

Teachers at Dangerfield’s West Elementary helped organize a bear hunt for area students. Stuffed and paper bears, like the ones seen here at the school, can be found at homes and businesses around Daingerfield, Lone Star, and Hughes Springs.
