On Wednesday, May 7, Miss Juneteenth Texas of 2024, Kaidlen Key, celebrated completing her senior year at Daingerfield High School. She’s also received several scholarships from hometown donors- including an academic scholarship from Stephen F. Austin University.
On Friday, May 9, a woman was put in handcuffs after she resisted arrest, trying to flee on foot while intoxicated from Lone Star police officers.
Addison Barnes is the Hughes Springs Class of 2025’s Salutatorian. She's lived in Hughes Springs all her life and has been president of her school's DECA chapter, the district’s vice president, and the NHS president. She also has done cross-country for four years, track for three years, and played basketball and tennis for one year. She's also been in robotics and theatre. After graduation, Barnes plans to attend Texas State University to major in Accounting. After getting her Bachelor's, she wants to go to law school to become an attorney.
