Principal’s Corner

Principal’s Corner

I would like to start out this week by thanking our counseling staff, Mrs. Susan Thompson, Jeanie Williams, and last but certainly not least Mrs. Allison Duke for all that they have done in these first few weeks of school. They have been a huge help to Coach Betts and myself. Each month we have a staff member and teacher of the month. For August it was Mrs. Susan Thompson and Coach Crane. Both of these individuals will receive Sonic gift cards donated by Bockmon Insurance. Congratulations to both of these awesome workers. As we close out our first grading period of the year I would like to take a little time to share with the community about how our students are reaching higher academic achievements this year. Our teachers are giving TEKS assessments every 3 weeks this year so that we can be data driven with our instruction. Our goal is to provide detailed instruction to each individual student based off of their needs, and these 3 weeks TEKS assessments gives us the data that we need to help drive our instruction home for every student. Now, I would be doing our athletes a disservice if I did not point out what I hoped all of you saw at Tatum last Friday night, and I believe you can sum it up in one word, “Heart.” Our young men did not throw in the towel and fought to the bitter end of their game last Friday night. I couldn’t have been more proud of the character that was displayed by our football team, and hope that I wasn’t the only one that noticed. To all of our coaches for all of our sports keep up the great work you are doing.

Destiny Dimensions

Galatians 6:4 “Let everyone be devoted to fulfill the work God has given them to do with excellence, and their joy will be in doing what’s right and being themselves, and not in being affirmed by others.” (TPT)

The Boys of Fall

Football season officially began last week, with most area teams playing their opening game Aug. 27. As I worked the Daingerfield-Atlanta game, I found myself thinking about this season, and the differences from last season.

Should you consider bamboo?

Should you consider bamboo?

Many individuals like a small bamboo grove as a privacy fence. As close as bamboo shoots grow together, privacy (and then some!) is definitely provided. For those interested, a few preventive actions keep a nice, small grove from rapidly becoming an uncontrollable invasion!
