The days are getting shorter and the nights are getting cooler as we push further into fall, and there is nothing better on a cool Friday night then a county rivalry football game. This week our Daingerfield Tigers will be traveling up the road to face of with Paul Pewitt. Both teams are undefeated in district play, and I look forward to the electric atmosphere that a big Friday night football game brings. Last Friday we recognized our senior football players, cross country runners, band members, and cheerleaders. I am extremely proud as their principal of the hard work that all of these individuals have displayed both here on campus and out on the field. Last Friday also marked the end of our first nine weeks of school. I am proud of what our teachers are continuing to build in their classrooms. Our level of rigor is continuing to increase, as well as our expectations for all of our students. I am proud of our student body in these first 9 weeks because of the changes that have taken place this year, and their ability to adapt and honor the changes that Coach Betts and myself along with the rest of our staff are bringing. Its hard to believe that the first quarter of the school year is already over, but as we move forward to the next 3 quarters we are looking ahead to continuing to build a culture of pride, excellence, tradition, and just good ole fashion hard work here at Daingerfield High School. As always, stay safe and next week we will be back with some more loving, positive, and uplifting information about our school, students, and community. God bless and go Tigers!

Rivalry Week

Rivalry Week

In any sport, there is always talk of RIVALS. No matter the level, there is always that one team that brings out the best in your team; that one team that seems to really makes you want your team to win, if for no reason other than bragging rights.

I would like to start off by thanking our community, faculty, and staff for all of your prayers. Our daughter is doing much better. We are all home now and the turnaround we have seen in her is nothing short of miraculous. Thank you again for all of your prayers. I would also like to thank our high school staff and students for the work that they put into our school float for the parade at Daingerfield days. Our school took home top honors this year. Thank you to everyone that invested their time and hard work. If you haven’t seen the front of our campus lately I would encourage you to drive by and see some of the updates that have been made over the past couple of weeks. We have installed some school spirit banners on our light poles on the front of our campus, as well as, gotten the front of our campus entry doors wrapped. Our students and staff have appreciated the new look and there is more to come as well. Lastly, I would like to extend a congratulations to our Tigers for the second district win in a row. They beat the Patriots soundly last Friday night, and we weren’t just congratulated by our performance on the field, Prairiland’s athletic director congratulated our football team for their good sportsmanship, as well as how they left the dressing room. He included some pictures on his Facebook post as to how immaculate our players left the locker room they were dressing in. Good up the great work coaches. As always, stay safe and next week we will be back with some more loving, positive, and uplifting information about our school, students, and community. God bless and go Tigers!

State climatologist: Texas getting hotter

The state climatologist recently predicted that Texas will continue to get hotter and for longer periods of time during the next 15 years. In “Assessment of Historic and Future Trends of Extreme Weather in Texas, 1900- 2036,” John Nielsen-Gammon predicted the average annual temperature in Texas will be three degrees warmer than the average from 1950-1999, and the number of 100-degree days could nearly double compared to 2000-2018.

Comfortably Numb

Comfortably Numb

In 1980, the English rock band Pink Floyd released the song “Comfortably Numb.” The song, which is one of Pink Floyd’s most well-known songs, was featured on the hit album “The Wall,” which is considered a concept album about an embittered and alienated rock star named Pink. In “Comfortably Numb,” Pink is medicated by a doctor so he can perform for a show:
