A week after coming from behind to edge out Hooks in a 21-20 nail-biter, the Pewitt Brahmas looked to come out fighting against a Paris Chisum team that, at the time, sat atop the district at 2-0 on Oct. 9. The Brahmas came out strong against the Mustangs, putting up 28 points before halftime for a 28-6 lead. Though Chisum attempted a comeback, Pewitt was able to hold on for the convincing win, 47-28.
The Hughes Springs Mustangs headed to Waskom Oct. 9 looking to solidify their spot at the top of District 11-3A. Instead, they headed home tied for third after a 49-8 thumping by the Wildcats.
The Daingerfield Tigers had a week to recuperate following a first half that saw them go 4-1 (1-0 in district play). The rest apparently served the Tigers well, as they opened the second half of their season with a 57-0 thumping of district opponent Prairiland.
