The Hughes Springs Lady Mustang volleyball team kicked off their season Friday at a four-team scrimmage at Pittsburg. Joining the Lady Mustangs were the host Lady Pirates, Queen City and Ore City. Hughes Springs’ JV teams and varsity played in rotating timed matches as the four teams officially open their respective seasons this week.

Hughes Springs held its annual elementary football camp earlier this month, giving the next generation of Mustangs a chance to meet the coaching staff and learn the fundamentals of the game. Hughes Springs’ junior high and freshman football camp concluded Thursday and the first day of two-a- days for the varsity and JV will be Monday, July 31.
Daingerfield alum and NFL wide receiver Denzel Mims will have the chance to run with a new pride this NFL season.
Their season may have ended earlier than hoped, but the Hughes Springs Lady Mustangs still impressed eyes across the state.
