The Pewitt Brahma baseball team found themselves in a slump at the worst possible time – in the midst of the playoff hunt. The Brahmas hoped to bounce back with wins over two of the teams in front of them among their last three games.
Daingerfield and Hughes Springs both sent their girls’ track teams to White Oak April 13 and 14 to participate in the 15-3A District meet. The Daingerfield varsity squad finished third with 115.5 points, behind White Oak and Sabine. Hughes Springs garnered 32 points, which put them behind White Oak, Sabine, Daingerfield, Gladewater, and New Diana. Ore City rounded out the team standings.
Both the Daingerfield and Hughes Springs track teams traveled to White Oak April 13 and 14 to take part in the 15-3A District meet. Daingerfield was district runner-up, scoring 91 points, behind only White Oak, who scored 255 points overall. Following Daingerfield in the team standing were Sabine and Gladewater. Hughes Springs finished fifth with 56 points, while New Diana and Ore City rounded out the team scores.
Despite the showers that made their way through the area last week, the schools of District 14-3A – Pewitt, Atlanta, DeKalb, Hooks, New Boston, Queen City and Redwater – were able to get the district track meet off with only light rescheduling last week.
Daingerfield hosted the Mickey Mayne Relays on April 8 at Mickey Mayne Tiger Stadium. Competing teams included Marshall, Mount Pleasant, Tatum, Jefferson, and Texas High.
