The Northeast Texas Community College Foundation recently received a $50,000 gift from the Carroll Shelby Foundation. Pictured (from left) is Jimmy Smith, NTCC Dean of Workforce; Aaron Shelby, Co-President, Carroll Shelby Foundation; and Austin Maness, Director of the Carroll Shelby Automotive Institute. The funds provided scholarships for the 2025-2026 academic year for students in the Carroll Shelby Automotive Institute. The Shelby Foundation has been a major supporter of the program since Carroll Shelby himself took an interest in providing opportunities for students in Northeast Texas. Northeast Texas Community College will host three spring commencement ceremonies on Saturday, May 16th in the Whatley Center for the Performing Arts. Seating is limited, so only guests who have tickets will be admitted into the auditorium. Both events will be streamed live on Facebook and on the NTCC website. for those who are unable to attend in person. Doors will open to guests at 8 a.m. for the 9 a.m. ceremony, 10:15 a.m. for the 11 a.m. ceremony and at 12:15 p.m. for the 1 p.m. ceremony. Graduates will gather in the Student Union Building. We look forward to honoring these students for their achievements.

Brenda Godoy, a Mount Pleasant native, began her journey at Northeast Texas Community College as a first-generation college student, drawn by its affordability, close-knit support system, and strong mentorship. With guidance from faculty and encouragement from her family, she built a strong academic foundation that led to her transfer as a Jack Kent Cooke Scholar to Texas A&M University, where she earned a degree in Biochemistry in 2020.
