The IRS recently upgraded the Child Tax Credit Update Portal to enable families to update their bank account information so they can receive their monthly Child Tax Credit payment. The tool also allows families to unenroll from the advance payments if they don’t want to receive them. The Update Portal is available only on IRS.gov.

On July 12, 2021 at approximately 2 p.m., Texas Department of Public Safety Troopers were notified of a traffic crash on SH 155 in Cass County about two miles south of Avinger. Preliminary investigation indicates a 2005 Peterbuilt Truck-Tractor which was towing a trailer was traveling northeast on SH 155. For an as yet undetermined reason, the driver of the Peterbuilt lost control of the vehicle and it left the roadway, striking several trees. There was heavy rain reported in the area at the time of the crash.
