Hughes Springs’ Summer Program came back with a splash June 10, as the Hughes Springs Volunteer Fire Department visited with children before a wet and wild play time that was enjoyed by children of all ages.
Marvin Nichols Reservoir gaining momentum; new group launches to mobilize Northeast Texans against it
Northeast Texas – The long-discussed Marvin Nichols Reservoir is gaining momentum. The project, proposed on the main stem of the Sulphur River in Red River and Titus Counties, would flood more than 66,000 acres of heritage farmland, hardwood forest and wetlands in Northeast Texas to pipe water to the DFW Metroplex.
Council approves EDC loan, new Asset Management System
The Daingerfield City Council met in a special session June 10. On the agenda was discussion and possible approval of an Economic Development Loan request and a new asset management system for the city.
Mitchell takes reins as Publisher
Northeast Texas publisher Kenny Mitchell has been named the new publisher at the Steel Country Bee in Daingerfield, the Pittsburg Gazette and the Mount Pleasant Tribune. Mitchell brings over 20 years of experience in the newspaper industry to his new role, including nine years at the Dallas Morning News.
