Juneteenth celebrated with community event at Daingerfield State Park
Just days after President Joe Biden signed legislation to make Juneteenth a Federal Holiday, residents gathered at Daingerfield State Park to celebrate the day that commemorates the end of slavery in the United States. Pastor Joe Rivers, of Mount Mitchell Church of Christ spoke to those in attendance and gave a history of Juneteenth, which was originally known as Freedom Day.

After a week of high temperatures, the Hughes Springs Area Public Library brought their weekly summer program indoors on June 17 as the Daingerfield State Park shared their turtle program to students in attendance.
Moughon tabbed as top Tiger at DHS
Daingerfield High School will have new leadership for the 2021-2022 school year, after Brad Moughon was approved as the school’s new principal in special session June 15. Moughon will replace Tommy Stewart, who left in earlier in the month to coach at Mount Pleasant.
