Sweepstakes scams cost victims more durning pandemic

Sweepstakes and lottery scams resulted in higher financial losses during the COVID-19 pandemic compared to the previous three years, particularly for older people, according to new research from Better Business Bureau® (BBB). BBB warns consumers never to pay money to claim a prize. If anyone asks for money before delivering a prize, it is likely a scam.

An excess military truck deploys on a new mission with Hughes Springs Volunteer Fire Department

HUGHES SPRINGS, Texas – Hughes Springs Volunteer Fire Department replaced a 1985 tanker with an excess military Stewart Stevenson. Upon accepting the truck, the department had to meet certain obligations within 180 days. These obligations included painting it a nonmilitary color and converting it into an emergency response vehicle able to perform an emergency response function.

CASA of Titus, Camp, and Morris Counties is pleased to welcome Djuana Thomas and Ashley Earl. Djuana and Ashley took an oath before the Honorable Judge Saucier in Titus County Court on June 3, after completing 30 hours of training and courtroom observation. Both ladies are the newest CASA Volunteers who have accepted their first case, advocating for children that are in the foster care system. CASA volunteers work for the best interest of the child/children making sure they have a safe, permanent home as quickly as possible. CASA volunteers are citizens in our community, just like you, that want to make a difference in a child/ children’s lives while they are removed from their families and placed in foster care.
