Recently, I was settling in for my daughter’s softball tournament in Longview when I noticed several hot air balloons headed towards the ballpark. As a wannabe photographer, I grabbed my camera and couple friends and headed to where two of them were landing. Besides several awesome photos (if I do say so myself !), watching those hot air balloons gave me what I would like to think of as life lessons.

• John Alvin Mitchell, Jr., of Daingerfield, was arrested Aug. 30 by Daingerfield police for public intoxication.
Not even a pandemic could stop this spry 95-year-old lady from Lone Star from celebrating her birthday with family and friends on Sunday afternoon, August 30th. Maxine welcomed guest at The Scenic Marina with a drive by birthday celebration hosted by neighbors Jim & Kim Sly and daughter Linda Little & son in law John Little. There were many friends that drove by wishing Mrs. Edwards a happy birthday the whole time while being on FB Live allowing friends and family members to wish her a happy birthday from all over the United States.
