In a year that seemed to be dominated by Coronavirus and COVID-19, it can be hard to remember that there was news not related to the virus. Over the next two weeks, The Steel Country Bee will take a look back at some of the other local news that made headlines over the previous year.
After every athletic season, students have the opportunity to be named to the All-District and All-State teams in their respective sports. Those students who excel in the classroom and on the field or court of their sport have the opportunity to be named to the Academic All-State team. Eight area student-athletes have met the criteria for Academic All-State Selection for Fall, 2020 sports.
Emory Craft of Celina was one of three hundred forty-eight students named to the Union University President’s List for the fall 2020 semester. Craft is the grandson of Harold and Marzelle Johnson of Lone Star.
CASA of Titus, Camp, and Morris Counties is pleased to welcome Ashley Dietz and Jennifer Tosh. Ashley and Jennifer took an oath before the Honorable Judge Loughmiller in Camp County on Dec. 21. Ashley and Jennifer completed 30 hours of training and courtroom observation. Ashley and Jennifer are the newest CASA Volunteer who have accepted their first case and are advocating for children that are in the foster care system. CASA volunteers work for the best interest of the child/children making sure they have a safe, permanent home as quickly as possible. CASA volunteers are citizens in our community, just like you, that want to make a difference in a child/children’s lives while they are removed from their families and placed in foster care.
