Hughes Springs senior Hannah McKinney has signed a National Letter of Intent to play golf at East Texas Baptist University in Marshall. McKinney is the first female golfer from Hughes Springs to have the opportunity to play golf in college.
The East Texas Junior Golf Tour is in its fifth year providing summer golf tournaments for East Texas area youth. This tour allows youth golfers to compete in tournaments and accumulate points based upon where they place in each tournament to qualify for a 36-hole Tour Championship to be played at Mount Pleasant Country Club. In the Tour Championship the youth golfers have caddies to carry their clubs and give advice on Club and shot selection.
Daingerfield has added another to the ranks of former players to head into the National Football League. This comes after former Tiger Denzel Mims was picked in the second round of the NFL Draft, April 24.
Northeast Texas Mobility Authority (NET RMA) has added two new member counties, Camp and Cass, bringing the total number to 14. NET RMA uses revenues from its Toll 49 highway to provide matching funds for key transportation projects within its member counties. These projects could involve roadways, grade separation, toll roads, freight rail, commuter rail, higher-speed passenger rail, bicycle and pedestrian, aviation, transit and public transportation facilities.
The accolades continue to come for members of the Daingerfield Lady Tigers basketball team. Senior Jaclyn Garrett was recently named to the Texas Girl’s Coaches Association All-State team.
