Daingerfield Tiger Tyrese Grant will continue his football career playing for the Wyoming Cowboys after he signed a National Letter of Intent Feb. 5.
On the morning of Feb. 2, Unity Church presented a “Jesus is Lord” Pep Rally celebrating the Paul Pewitt High School football team’s participation in the state championship. Other participants included: MPHS band, representation from MPHS cheerleaders, MPHS basketball team, Unity Church dancers and praise team.
The numbers are in, and the university Interscholastic League has announced the realignments for all classifications and divisions for 2020-2022.
Thousands of young men play football every year, with only a small percentage moving on past the high school ranks. Of the small number that play collegiately, the percentage is even smaller of those that actually make it to the National Football League. Of those, only 106 have the opportunity to play on the NFL’s biggest stage each year at the Super Bowl. Daingerfield native David Whitmore is one of the few who not only have made it to the NFL, but have played in, and won, on the league’s biggest stage. Ironically, two of Whitmore’s teams faced off Sunday in Super Bowl LIV.
The Lady Tigers are three games away from an undefeated District Championship after posting two more wins last week.
